Overview
AERIS-10 is a groundbreaking open-source, low-cost 10.5 GHz Pulse Linear Frequency Modulated (LFM) phased array RADAR system, designed to democratize advanced sensing technology. Available in two variants—a 3km range (AERIS-10N) and a 20km range (AERIS-10X) model—this project empowers researchers, drone developers, and SDR enthusiasts with a fully modular and hackable platform for exploring beamforming, pulse compression, and target tracking.
Key Features
- Open-Source & Modular Design: Complete hardware schematics, PCB layouts, firmware, and software are freely available, fostering collaboration and customization. The system is built with separate, interoperable power management, frequency synthesis, and RF boards.
- Dual Range Variants: Choose between the compact AERIS-10N for shorter-range applications or the extended-range AERIS-10X, featuring powerful GaN amplifiers for up to 20km detection.
- Advanced Electronic Beam Steering: Achieve precise ±45° electronic steering in both elevation and azimuth, enabling agile target acquisition and tracking without mechanical movement.
- Integrated FPGA Signal Processing: An on-board FPGA offloads complex tasks like pulse compression, Doppler FFT, MTI (Moving Target Indication), and CFAR (Constant False Alarm Rate) detection, ensuring real-time performance.
- User-Friendly Python GUI: A comprehensive, map-integrated graphical interface allows for intuitive control, visualization of radar data, and real-time monitoring.
- Comprehensive Sensor Integration: Built-in GPS and IMU support provide accurate position and attitude data for enhanced coordinate correction and mapping.
- Dual Licensing: Hardware components adhere to the CERN Open Hardware Licence Version 2 – Permissive (CERN-OHL-P) for robust protection, while software and firmware benefit from the permissive MIT License.
